Property Tax Relief

Property taxes are hitting Hardin County families hard especially those on fixed incomes. It’s not only landowners who are affected when property taxes rise, those who rent commercial, residential, and agricultural land are also affected by rising costs.

Ohio has passed several new laws designed to provide property tax relief, however it is not enough. If elected, I will work with the County Auditors’ Association of Ohio (CAAO) and our legislators to provide a fairer valuation of real estate and additional relief.

Government Transparency

The residents of Hardin County have a right to know where their tax dollars are being spent. The Auditor’s office plays a key role in maintaining public records and ensuring access to information. I believe that an open and transparent government builds trust and I am committed to providing that to the residents of Hardin County.

It is my intention to educate residents on how their tax dollars are distributed and what relief is available to them through regular communication in the media and public meetings as well as through an expansion in technology.

Modernizing the Office

Current Auditor, Mike Bacon, has begun the modernization of the Auditor’s office and I intend to continue that process. I intend on implementing digital systems that make information accessible and easy to navigate.

We must ensure that any future upgrades are reliable, efficient, secure, and able to interoperate with other government agencies. These upgrades should not only make the Auditor’s office run smoother and more accessible to the public, but it should also aid and assist other entities in their duties such as assisting the townships with their permitting process.
